It can sometimes be daunting celebrating New Year’s Eve away from home. Understandably, who to spend it with and where to go are common questions posed.
For anyone arriving in Melbourne around that time, there’s no such worries.

Sunday December 30th
This will be your arrival day with all the action starting on Monday morning. This means you need to be in Melbourne for the Sunday night as that’s when your first night of accommodation is included from.
Landing a few days before? No worries! Your airport pickup is included for ANY DAY before the tour and we can organise any required extra nights at the YHA accommodation too.
Monday December 31st
Our morning meet and greet will see you get to know your new travel family before we put you at total ease by organising your bank, phone number and tax file number. This means that you’ll be organised for life in Australia from the start!
After that it will be time for us to take you on a guided tour of Melbourne where you’ll learn why so many travellers love this incredibly diverse city.
Following a quick costume change at the hostel, we’ll head to Hophaus on Southbank, the best place in Melbourne to see those fireworks at midnight. How much will drinks cost? All drinks are included for the night!
Tuesday 1st January
Melbourne has many wonderful suburbs and the beach suburb of St Kilda is as famous as they get.
We’ll take you to this bustling beach suburb taking in its iconic promenade, alfresco cafes and famous landmarks. The afternoon will be spent chilling on the beach, paddle boarding (included!) or if you’re feeling adventurous….Skydiving!
Is there a better, or more Australian way to spend the first day of the New Year than on a beach? We don’t think so!
Wednesday 2nd January
Of course we want you to experience this incredible city for what it is, but we also want to show you Victoria and some stunning spots on Melbourne’s doorstep.
Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island are a couple of beautiful yet barely touched spots in Australia.
We will start off with a promise; to improve your Insta game at Mt Martha’s Beach Huts. Following that we’ll be sampling 6-10 wines at a spectacular vineyard and securing new Facebook cover photos at SCENIC lookouts.
To complete the day we’ll be doing something I can promise you won’t have done before, watching over 500 penguins march up the beach towards us, what a way to end the day.
Thursday 3rd January
SURFING. That’s all I need to say. When in Australia right? Thursday morning will see you tick off another Australian must do as you learn how to ride a wave at one of the best learner beaches in the country.
This day includes a few hidden secrets along the way but there is one thing you need to know. You will get the chance to get up close to koalas and kangaroos.
Bucket list items 2 and 3 ticked ticked for the day right?!
Friday 4th January
Melbourne is known as a famously foodie City so it would only be right to indulge in it’s qualities.
We will start off at the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest under-cover market, a true treat for all the senses.
After haggling a bargain and exploring the wonders of Queen Victoria Market’s many stalls, you will spend the afternoon in the most Melbourne way possible, eating and drinking our way through our own custom made exclusive food and drink tour.
What could possibly make this day cooler? We’ll spend our time in between grazing checking out the City’s renowned street-art filled laneways.
Saturday 5th January
Do you want to go in to work or do you want to travel? Either way we will get you organised! Saturday is the perfect time to look at everything you will need after your first week in Australia.
We promise to go through all of our job resources including resume writing, employer database and farm-work opportunities, as well show you how to explore this magnificent country. This will be done in a group AND one-on-one setting meaning you’ll leave with all questions answered.
What do we need after that? To join Melbourne’s biggest bar crawl of course.
Sunday 6th January
And just like that, the first week of 2019 will nearly be over.
