Places To Explore In Melbourne

IT'S YOUR EXPLORING DAY

SOME MORE INSPIRATION

Check out Carlton

Carlton is a beautiful suburb just a stones throw away from the hostel.

The area known as Little Italy is obviously famous for it’s huge Italian culture.

We’d absolutely recommend heading there so you can spend the afternoon exploring Melbourne Museum and before hitting Lygon St for some Italian food on the night.

Make sure you save some room for dessert at Brunettis. This Italian bakery do the best cakes in Melbourne!

Explore Collingwood and Fitzroy

If you like different then Collingwood and Fitzroy are for you. We’d recommend you try to snag a bargain in the thrift shops of these progressive and quirky suburbs.

Like most places in Melbourne, these areas are also a hotbed for food and drink. There’s anything from middle eastern to Greek to exquisite vegetarian and vegan food such as The Vegie Bar or Smiths & Daughters.

After your meal why not head to Naked For Satan (yes thats it’s actual name) for a rooftop drink looking back onto the city.

As if that wasn’t enough these areas (Johnston St, Sydney Road, Brunswick St) are great for live music just about any night of the week!

Sports lover? You’re in the right place

Whatever the event, Melbourne will probably have it on at some point. It is absolutely the self-proclaimed sporting capital of the world.

Melbourne plays host to so many global events around the year from Australian Tennis Open to Formula 1 to Golf and UFC!

It also has ongoing team sports playing in their respective competition all year round. Melbourne is home to a Rugby League team, Rugby Union team, 2 soccer teams, a netball team and a basketball team.

It also pretty much has its own sport in AFL….we’ll tell you more about that on the tour though.

If you are a sports boffin then you’ll probably already heard of the MCG. This 100,000 seater stadium is also home to Australia’s National Sport Museum. Let us know if you’re interested in a tour and museum ticket, we can help you out!

If you’re looking for a game while in town then check out the sites for the following stadiums:
Marvel Stadium
MCG
Rod Laver Arena
Also check out the sporting calendar here.

Arts lover, also in the right place!

Melbourne is known as a place with character and when people say that they mean the food, the drink, the sports and also the arts!

If you’re an art lover then we’d always recommend checking out the National Gallery of Victoria which has some great constant exhibitions, as well as guest ones too.

Melbourne also has a thriving theatre scene and after London and New York Melbourne is the final of the three cities showing the Harry Potter and Cursed Child production!

If you’re after something a bit more light-hearted then check out one of Melbourne’s many comedy clubs. The closest one to the hostel is The Comics Lounge but there’s clubs all around the city!

Want some things to do on a night?

Chapel Street in Windsor/Prahran is a great place for drinks and food, as is just about any inner City suburb to be honest!

We also love the independent cinemas Melbourne offers. There is one on Chapel St (Como) and also another one (Novo) in Carlton too, go check them out!

If you’re here for a Thursday night then South Melbourne Night Markets (Summer only) is a wonderful spot!

Events

Melbourne is very much an events city and we don’t want you to miss out any so we would recommend going to this website here.

Eureka Skydeck

You have your ticket and the best time to view this amazing city is from the Eureka Skydeck is just before sunset. See the places you explored before and experience how the city change from day to night.

Melbourne Bar Crawl

Saturday night is going to be 🔥🔥🔥

If our 8-Day tour group is running this week you’re more than welcome to meet them at the hostel and head to the first bar…but if its not on don’t worry they’ll be over a hundred people waiting for you.

The Melbourne Bar Crawl is the largest in the city, where you have a drink at each venue before finishing up at Melbourne’s largest nightclub.

Go to Chaise Lounge for just after 8pm. You don’t need a ticket but just tell them your name and that you’re part of the Welcome To Travel.

Your entry is included in the 4-Day mini pack.

If you have any questions contact your guide and have a fun day exploring.
