Hiking, swag camping and stargazing

Days 2-5

You’ll be spending the next four days exploring Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon.

At Uluru, you’ll complete the base walk, marvel at the rock art and hear about the history of this sacred place. But that’s not all. After you’ve been up close to the rock you’ll be heading out to see Uluru in all her glory at the best sunset spot. Marvel at the colours over Uluru with a drink of fizz. Who said swag camping was roughing it? Not us!

You’ll then head back to camp for the evening, eat a tasty camp dinner and set up your swags around the campfire.

You’ll get another epic view of Uluru at sunrise, where you’ll be able to see both Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the distance. The early rise is well worth those sunrise views. Our top tip, if it’s chilly, bring your sleeping bag with you!

After breakfast at camp you’ll be exploring Kata Tjuta’s Valley of the Winds. This area of the national park is a culturally sensitive male area, so you’re politely asked to not take any photos. Instead, fully immerse yourself with the landscape and hear how this part of Australia came to be.

Next you’ll be enjoying the sprawling views of Gorge Gill Range as you travel to Kings Creek Station for a quintessential Aussie barbecue under the stars.

You have one final hike to complete, but it’s a great one. The rim walk at Kings Canyon is simply spectacular. It feels out of this world with red rock formations, green oasis and canyons galore. Enjoy the peace at the Garden of Eden, a true green retreat amongst the red rock. Make sure your phone is fully charged as you’ll want pictures every five minutes.

After the rewarding walk, you’ll be driving towards Curtain Spring Station with views of Mount Conner in the distance. You’ll be spending the night at an exclusive bush camp where you’ll see the very best stars from your swag. You’ll be cooking over the fire and immersing yourself in the outback, this is a remote spot, but with it comes the very best views.

Wake up to a leisurely breakfast on your last morning before driving back to Ayers Rock Resort.

Back at the resort you’ll have some free time to swim or explore before our final meal together as a group.
