We’ll also head through Anna Creek Station, the world’s largest working cattle station. Covering an area of six million acres, it is equivalent to the size of Belgium!

Coober Pedy

Day 6

After your night in quirky William Creek, we’ll head to the famous underground town of Coober Pedy. Around 150 million years ago, Coober Pedy was covered by ocean – and when the water receded, the sandy silica minerals from the seabed flowed into the rocky cracks and cavities and solidified over time into multi-coloured gem-stone – opal!

We’ll have some free time to explore the opal capital and later on, we’ll visit a Kangaroo Orphanage (how cute!?) and Josephine’s Gallery, a world-class Aboriginal Art Gallery with an extensive range of Aboriginal artefacts and significant works by many of Australia’s best-known Indigenous artists.

It would be wrong to head to the Opal capital and not experience an opal-cutting demonstration right?! At the Umoona Opal Mine & Museum, we’ll go ‘noodling’ or fossicking and learn more about these precious gemstones.

To finish another epic day, we’ll head to the Aboriginal Heritage site, The Kanku-Breakaways Conservation Park, for mesmerising scenery of the Moon Plains. This evening, we’ll be staying in a unique underground bunkhouse with some free time for you to explore and grab dinner at one of the many underground eateries.

Rise and shine campers!! It’s an early start this morning, but we promise it’ll be one of the most magical experiences of your life. Take in the 360-degree views and journey through Priscilla’s Crack and see the sandstone domes known as the Lost City as well as the greenery and watering hole in the Garden of Eden.

Uluru Sunrise, Base Walk and Cultural Centre

Day 9

You can’t be in Uluru and not witness at least one sunrise! Together we will wake up and soak up the first rays of the day, watching the sunlight play with the landscape and the rock formations changing colour throughout the morning. We’ll then get closer to the natural wonder on a guided 10km Uluru base walk (shorter walks available), allowing you to connect with the rock, it’s powerful presence and learn more about its stories. Relax beside tranquil waterholes, take a break under a magnificent Sheoak tree and peer into hidden caves (can it get any better than this?!).

After lunch, we’ll visit the Culture Centre to deepen your understanding of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. You can learn about Anangu culture and the park’s natural environment through exhibits and free presentations with Anangu and park rangers. Return to camp for some free time. Why not, relax by the pool or enjoy some of the activities at Ayers Rock Resort, such as a didgeridoo performance, a guided garden walk or discovering artifacts at the museum.

As the tour ends tomorrow, don’t forget to bring your tissues. We’ll share a final farewell dinner and reminisce on the best 10 days of your life. You’ve gone out of your comfort zone, you’ve seen and experienced new things, you’ve got amazing memories but most importantly, you’ve now got friends for life!

Kata-Tjuta Sunrise and Farewells

Day 10

Yes, today is the last day of the tour. No, let’s not talk about that just yet **grabs tissues**

Another early start is calling, this morning we will be watching a spellbinding Kata Tjuta sunrise. Translating to the Pitjantjatjara word for ‘Many Heads’, the 36 domes of Kata Tjuta are a defining feature of the Red Centre landscape. Rising 546 metres above the surrounding plain, its tip is the highest point for miles, while the site’s ridges and ravines are closely connected with numerous Indigenous creation-time stories. Many of these stories are kept secret from outsiders, but you’ll learn a little about the local Anangu culture and appreciate the beauty of their land.

Ok now it’s time for the dreaded goodbyes, whilst your outback adventure might end here, we’ll all have memories to last a lifetime!

For those departing from Uluru Airport, complimentary transfers are available from the resort. There are also bus transfers from Yulara to Alice Springs.
