Top Experiences

The one and only rock

Uluru is mighty for a reason. You’ll be hiking around the base of Uluru then watching the spectacular colours of sunset and sunrise.

The Valley of the Winds

Take in the sacred landscape of The Valley of the Winds, a culturally sensitive men’s area with unbelievable views to match.

Hike King’s Canyon

The rim walk around King’s Canyon feels at times other-worldly from the hidden green oasis to the rich red stone face.

Bush camp under the stars

You’ve not truly experienced Australia until you’ve slept in a swag. Nodding off around the camp fire is truly special.

WHERE YOU'LL GO

You’ll start and end your trip in Yulara, with its teeny tiny airport and home to Ayers Rock Resort. You’ll then spend four days exploring the National Parks taking in Uluru, Kata Tjuta and King’s Canyon.

WHERE YOU'LL STAY

You’ll have your first and last night in dorm rooms at Ayers Rock Resort and you’ll spend your nights in between swag camping in the outback. Don’t worry, you’ll always have access to a dunny (toilet!).

Hiking, swag camping and stargazing

Days 2-5

You’ll be spending the next four days exploring Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon.

At Uluru, you’ll complete the base walk, marvel at the rock art and hear about the history of this sacred place. But that’s not all. After you’ve been up close to the rock you’ll be heading out to see Uluru in all her glory at the best sunset spot. Marvel at the colours over Uluru with a drink of fizz. Who said swag camping was roughing it? Not us!

You’ll then head back to camp for the evening, eat a tasty camp dinner and set up your swags around the campfire.

You’ll get another epic view of Uluru at sunrise, where you’ll be able to see both Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the distance. The early rise is well worth those sunrise views. Our top tip, if it’s chilly, bring your sleeping bag with you!

After breakfast at camp you’ll be exploring Kata Tjuta’s Valley of the Winds. This area of the national park is a culturally sensitive male area, so you’re politely asked to not take any photos. Instead, fully immerse yourself with the landscape and hear how this part of Australia came to be.

Next you’ll be enjoying the sprawling views of Gorge Gill Range as you travel to Kings Creek Station for a quintessential Aussie barbecue under the stars.

You have one final hike to complete, but it’s a great one. The rim walk at Kings Canyon is simply spectacular. It feels out of this world with red rock formations, green oasis and canyons galore. Enjoy the peace at the Garden of Eden, a true green retreat amongst the red rock. Make sure your phone is fully charged as you’ll want pictures every five minutes.

After the rewarding walk, you’ll be driving towards Curtain Spring Station with views of Mount Conner in the distance. You’ll be spending the night at an exclusive bush camp where you’ll see the very best stars from your swag. You’ll be cooking over the fire and immersing yourself in the outback, this is a remote spot, but with it comes the very best views.

Wake up to a leisurely breakfast on your last morning before driving back to Ayers Rock Resort.

Back at the resort you’ll have some free time to swim or explore before our final meal together as a group.

Dust off those boots

Day 6

It’s the end of the adventure, with red dust literally everywhere, you’ll be checking out and heading back to the airport. You’ll have made memories and friends for life and continue to marvel at the beauty of the red centre.

Take one final look over Uluru as you say goodbye to the heart of Australia.

Not ready for the adventure to end? You can extend your time in the NT and add on an extra three days by joining the Alice Springs to Darwin Mulgas tour with pick up from Ayres Rock Resort. Our reservations team will be in touch nearer the time to see if you’d like to book the add-on.
