Check into your hostel from 2pm and later that afternoon say hello to your Welcome to Travel host who’ll be joining you and your fellow group travellers for a meet & greet presentation. We’ll be giving you a run down of everything to expect from the week, as well as a chance for you to get to know the group you’ll be spending the best week of your life with!

Croc Cove & Mindil Markets

DAY 2
Today we’ll be exploring Darwin and everything this beautiful city has to offer! There will be an optional extra to head to Crocosaurus Cove, home to the world’s largest display of Australian reptiles! This is the best chance for those who want to have an up close and personal view of Australia’s iconic Saltwater Crocodiles. One of our top favourites of the day will be heading to Darwin’s largest market. Located alongside the iconic Mindil Beach, the sunset market has over 150 food, beverage, arts and craft stalls, and live entertainment! This will be the perfect evening to get to know your group and enjoy the rest of your night in Darwin together.

Kakadu National Park

Day 3

Today we will be leaving Darwin and heading out to the Wetlands Region where the beauty of The Northern Territory really starts to shine. On our drive, we will have stop offs to admire a huge range of birdlife and even more saltwater crocodiles!

We will be arriving in the magnificent Kakadu National Park, which will be your home for the next three nights. You’ll have some time to soak in the scenery before checking into your accommodation. After a bit of downtime, we will spend the afternoon heading north to Cahills Crossing on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land. Here we embark on a cultural tour of a lifetime – cruising down the East Alligator River on the border of Kakadu and Arnhem Land to experience the dreamtime stories of the area, majestic birdlife and of course hope to see crocodiles along where they and the locals aim to catch some barramundi!

But it doesn’t stop there! Before the day ends, we will visit one of the best preserved collections of Aboriginal Rock Art in the world at Ubirr rock upon sunset. Make sure you bring your phones because this will be one of the most insta-worthy sunsets you’ll see!

Waterfalls & Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre

Day 4

Today is waterfall day and you can bet we’ll be chasing them! Jim Jim or Twin Falls are probably two of the most famous and stunning locations within Kakadu. Depending on
seasonal factors and cultural observations we will visit one of these amazing waterfalls!

We will then hike out to a HUGE plunge pool and beach area where you can enjoy plenty of time to cool off after a long stint of walking. You can unwind surrounded by thick monsoon forest framed by magnificent rock cliffs (we couldn’t be more jealous). On the way back to the accommodation you will have an opportunity to stop at the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre where you have time to explore and delve into the culture of Kakadu, learning about the stories, flora and fauna of this World Heritage Listed National Park.

Nourlangie Rock & Yellow Waters Billabong Cruise

Day 5

Rise and shine travellers!! This morning we will discover Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) Rock, Kunwarddewardde Lookout and have the potential to explore surrounding areas of Nawurlandja Lookout and Anbangbang Billabong.

Nourlangie Rock has outstanding cultural values, with its stunning rock paintings, this World Heritage-listed spot documents life in the region from 20,000 years ago including dreamtime stories of the Bininj people to the first contact with European explorers.

After an incredible morning, we travel to Cooinda Lodge and join the Yellow Waters Billabong Cruise, taking you on a discovery tour through the rich wildlife, dramatic scenery and ever-changing landscape of world-famous Yellow Water Billabong. We will stop off for a picnic lunch at Barramundi Gorge (Maguk) Waterfall, and we can promise this will be one of the most picturesque and pristine waterfalls in Kakadu (we aren’t sure you will find a lunch spot that can beat it).

After a long but fulfilling day, we will travel back to our camp for the night, and enjoy a BBQ dinner together.

Litchfield National Park

Day 6

Today we will be saying goodbye to Kakadu and hello to Litchfield National Park! For the next 24 hours, you’ll be surrounded by thick pockets of tropical rainforest, offering a cool escape from the heat in the Top End of The Northern Territory.

We’ll be heading to one of Litchfield National Park’s most impressive sights, the monolithic Magnetic Termite Mounds, completely unique to the Northern parts of Australia. Afterwards we will have an opportunity to cool off in one of Litchfields beautiful natural plunge pools like Buley Rockholes or Wangi Falls.

A day exploring in Litchfield wouldn’t be complete without a visit to another waterfall! Depending on the conditions, we will visit Florence Falls or Tolmer Falls and marvel at the sheer beauty carved out amongst the rocky escarpment.

Now we know you’ll all feel fully relaxed and rejuvenated after a day in the most gorgeous national park, but as it’s the last day of the tour, make sure you’ve brought your tissues. Once you arrive back in Darwin, you’ll share a final farewell meal and reminisce on the best week of your life. You’ve gone out of your comfort zone, you’ve seen and experienced new things, you’ve got amazing memories but most importantly, you’ve now got friends for life!
