Welcome to Tasmania Itinerary
Meet & Greet & Welcome Meal
Day 1
Welcome to Tasmania! We know flying days can be a lot of effort and with people arriving at different times, we’ll be spending the first night in Hobart so you relax and recharge before an incredible week ahead.
Check into the YHA in Hobart from 2pm and later that afternoon say hello to your Welcome to Travel host who’ll be joining you and your fellow group travellers for a meet & greet presentation. We’ll be giving you a run down of everything to expect from the week, as well as a chance for you to get to know the group you’ll be spending the best week of your life with!
After the meet & greet, you’ll head out for dinner together and get an early night ready for tomorrow’s adventures…
Hobart City Views
Day 2
The Coast, Wildlife & History
Day 3
In the morning we’ll be heading to Tassies’ best known conservation and wildlife sanctuary, Bonorong. Tick off your bucket list by meeting some of the best Tasmanaian wildlife such as wombats, kangaroos and the iconic Tasmanian devils.
After meeting and deciding your spirit animal, our next stop will be the Tasman Peninsula (Turrakana) to take in the dramatic coastal scenery of the Tasman National Park. You’ll see the Tasman Arch and Devil’s Bay and only the brave will take a glance over cliff edges where waterfalls cascade into the sea but we guarantee you’ll leave quite literally feeling like you’re on top of the world!
Beaches & Hikes
Day 4
Halfway through the trip already, can you believe it!? You’ll be leaving Hobart and making your way along the East Coast to the Freycinet National Park. The star of the show will be spending time on Wineglass Bay beach where you can spend time in translucent waters, walk along the whitest sand and have your “i made it, mum” moment!
You can also head to Wineglass Bay lookout or enjoy the panoramic views across the coast at Cape Tourville Lighthouse.
We’ll be spending the night in the coastal town of Bicheno, where we can watch little penguins emerge from the sea at night time! Adorable, right?
Paradise Torquoise Waters
Day 5
Today you’ll continue to explore the East Coast of Tasmania. It’ll be more time spent walking along long stretches of pure white sands and enjoying the turquoise waters. Can you believe this could be your life very soon?!
After lunch we will make our way to Launceston via the Northeast region of Tasmania. We’ll be visiting the giant tree ferns and insane waterfalls at St Columba Falls and then walking over the iconic bridge at Cataract Gorge.
We’ll spend the night in Tasmania’s second largest city where you can explore and ticket off anything else on your bucket list for this spot.
The Tasmania Icon
Day 6
A short morning drive will take us through Sheffield, the ‘Town of Murals’ and then onto Tasmania’s most famous alpine national park, Cradle Mountain. Home to some of the most incredible wildlife such as wombats and echidnas, you’ll choose from a variety of nature walks and hikes where you can find unmatched views of the national park
You’ll spend the day feeling truly at one with nature with a group of travellers who are now becoming some of the best friends you’ll meet on your travels. Thank us later…
Sand Dunes & Waterfalls
Day 7
Today’s playground is the untouched wilderness of Tasmania’s West Coast. Walk in the rainforests of the Tarkine/takayna to reach Tasmania’s highest waterfall, Montezuma Falls. (You won’t want to miss this view)
You’ll also explore the enormous Henty Sand Dunes which stretch for kilometres along the coast and maybe even get a chance to sandboard and show off your skills. If the sand dunes don’t take your fancy, you’ll also have the option of cruising the beautiful Gordon River which ventures deep into the World Heritage Area.
The Serenity Of Tasmania
Day 8
Grab your tissues because today is the last official day of the tour *sniffs*.
BUT don’t worry, we still have a WHOLE day of exploring! In the morning, you’ll depart Strahan and visit the moonscape of Queenstown, a mining town with a fascinating history. Next you’ll then travel through the Tasmanian World Heritage Area via the pristine Franklin-Gordon Wild River National Park to stroll beneath some of the world’s tallest trees and observe the beautiful Russell Falls.
We will continue our drive back to the city of Hobart and share a final farewell meal and reminisce on the best week of your lives. You’ve gone out of your comfort zone, you’ve seen and experienced new things, you’ve got amazing memories but most importantly, you’ve now got friends for life!
