Arrive in Sydney and check into your dorm at Wake Up! Sydney, your home base for the next 12 nights right in the heart of the city. Take the afternoon to drop your bags, get your bearings around the hostel, and settle in before the festivities kick off. Once evening rolls around, head down to Side Bar for the Wrapped Party, your first proper chance to meet the rest of the WtT Fam before the Christmas and New Year madness begins. Expect good music, easy conversation, a few new friends, and a room full of people about to spend the festive season the exact same way you are: away from home, but far from alone.
Free Time
A few free days to explore Sydney at your own pace before Christmas. Head down to Circular Quay for your first proper look at the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, then wander through The Rocks for coffee, markets, and cobblestone laneways. Spend a day at Bondi Beach and tackle the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk, one of the best free things to do in the city, with clifftop views and ocean pools along the way. On Christmas Eve, stock up on anything you need for tomorrow, join the group for a low-key dinner, or head to Darling Harbour to soak up the atmosphere as the city gets ready for Christmas Day.

Take it easy today. Plenty of hostels and pubs around Sydney put on a full Christmas dinner with all the trimmings if you’re after the traditional spread, or you can do it the local way and head to the beach. Bondi and Coogee are both classic spots for a Sydney summer Christmas, sun, swimming, and a very different kind of festive vibe to what you’re used to back home.
Free Time
Five more free days to make the most of Sydney and its surrounds. Boxing Day means sales across the CBD, or skip the crowds with a ferry to Manly for a beach day and some of the best fish and chips in Sydney. Take a day trip out to the Blue Mountains, a popular optional add-on, to see the Three Sisters and ride the Scenic World cableway. Jump on a ferry to Taronga Zoo for harbour views with animals included, tackle the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb for another optional adrenaline hit, or keep it relaxed with a wander through the Royal Botanic Garden and Mrs Macquarie’s Chair. Use the last of these days to rest up, sort your Luna Park entry time, and get ready for the big night ahead.

Head to Luna Park with the rest of the WtT Fam for the best seat in the city, with fireworks exploding directly over the Sydney Harbour Bridge at midnight, DJs keeping the energy going all night long, and rides to enjoy in between. New Year's Day, Free Time
A well-earned recovery day, and there’s no wrong way to spend it. Keep things slow with a long brunch and harbour views to nurse yourself back to life, or if you’ve still got some energy left, head back out to Bondi or Coogee for a swim, some sun, and one last beach day before the trip wraps up.
